2025 (English)In: Sustainability Teaching for Impact: How to Inspire and Engage Students Using Drama / [ed] Tony Wall, Eva Österlind and Eva Hallgren, London: Routledge, 2025, 1, p. 77-83Chapter in book (Refereed)
Abstract [en]

This chapter outlines the use of pedagogic role play to explore power dynamics in the context of intercultural communication. It integrates theoretical ideas and tools relevant to intercultural communication, intercultural communication competence, power and power distance, alongside interactive role-play processes. This chapter explains how these processes – applied to interpersonal conflict for example – not only explore personal and collective meaning of the theoretical ideas and tools as applied to sustainability issues, but also how students can develop their own action in relation to those issues through interruption as an agentic device for learning.
