All phases of the research process involveethical issues for the researcher. Insome disciplines, notably public health research,the communication of results fromresearch can be as ethically problematic asthe planning and execution of research. Asa public health scientist, you will sooneror later be confronted with major ethicalquestions: What should I tell the public?How should I say it? How can I, as an expert,contribute responsibly to public debateson preventive health?In the following paper, I will proposeten ethical principles for guiding the communicationof public health research. Figure1 summarizes these principles in a traditionalformat.
