The report discusses a concept as a uniform example of a self-steering system designed for an autonomous sailboat. The concept was developedfor a specific boat built. Hence, certain demands have been placed on the concept. The platform being developed will use a free rotating wing instead of a traditional sail-plan. The free rotation allows the mast to be mechanically connected to the rudder with the self steering system. The self-steering system includes a mechanical clutch, and a number of electronic components needed for the system to function and as well a system for controlling the boat when self-steering system is not used. The clutch is a disc brake from a bicycle so a caliper is used to transfer torque into the system. The result from this work is a complete concept for the self-steering system, that is modeled with 3D software and ready to build.
