Detta stadsbyggnadsprojekt utspelar sig på landsbygderna i Södertälje kommun och innehåller ett Folkets hus som ska samverka med en produktion och därigenom bilda en ny typ av hybridbyggnad för folket på platsen. Jag har arbetat i Mölnbo.I mitt förslag samsas kulturellt utbud, servering och odling med ett snickeri där barn och unga kan arbeta i en öppen verkstad. Sociala kopplingar och arbetsträning erbjuds i produktionen som utöver snickeri sysslar med byggnadsvård och renovering samt försäljning av äldre byggnadsdelar. När många arbetssysslor automatiseras ser jag en stor framtid inom hantverket där den mänskliga handen och flexibiliteten är avgörande. Alla grundläggande idéer i detta Folkets hus kommer ur tankar på olika sorters långsiktig hållbarhet. Möjlighet att reparera, anpassa eller demontera och återbruka delar av byggnaden när den inte längre är funktionell har påverkat samtliga beslut i designprocessen. Social hållbarhet genom inkludering och samarbete stärker lokalsamhället och arbete med barn och unga kan påverka inflyttning till orten som på så vis utvecklas och får tillgång till utökad service. 

This project is situated in the countryside in Södertälje municipality and includes a Community building (Folkets hus) working together with a production and thus creating a hybrid building for the people in our chosen area. I’ve been working with a site in Mölnbo.My suggested building weaves together a cultural program, café and vegetable patch with a joinery where kids are welcome to an “open woodshop” after school. The production, which also works with repair and sales of vintage building parts, offers social connections and work practice. In a time where a lot of work is automized, I can see a great future in crafts, where the human hand and flexibility is crucial. The foundation of this project is based on different kinds of long term sustainability. The possibility to repair, remodel or, when the building is no longer functional, to disassemble parts of the building and use for other purposes have affected all decisions in the design process. Social sustainability through inclusion and cooperation will strengthen the local community and the focus on kids’ creativity can have a positive effect on people moving to the village which will help the development and provide more services to the villagers.
