Denna studie undersöker i vilken utsträckning svenska företag har förändrat sin tillämpning av lean efter covid-19-pandemin. Detta undersöktes genom en litteraturstudie och intervjuer med två medicintekniska företag, AstraZeneca samt Panthera. Pandemins framfart skapade stora problem för samhälle och företag. Kombinerat har brist på containrar, låg hamnkapacitet, lokala nedstängningar och sjukfall lett till stora leveransstörningar. Transportproblemen och leveransstörningarna påverkade arbetet med just-in-time och vissa företag behövde öka sina lager för att säkra upp produktionen. Kostnaderna för leveranser och lagerhållning har i sin tur ökat, leveranskostnader har i vissa fall blivit nästan 10 gånger större än innan pandemin. 

Utöver just-in-time har företags arbete med lean varit nästintill oförändrat. För att bättre kunna hantera leveransstörningar föredrar nu företag underleveranatörer som befinner sig geografiskt närmre. Större företag har tillgång till fler resurser och har därmed lyckats parera leveransstörningar bättre än mindre företag. Den svenska modellens hantering av covid-19-pandemin kan också ha bidragit till att svensk ekonomi drabbats mindre än många andra länder. För att säkerställa resultatet för en större bredd på företag krävs ytterligare undersökning. 

This study investigates to what extent Swedish companies have changed their enforcement of lean after the Covid-19 pandemic. This investigation includes a literature study and interviews with two companies in the field of medical technology, AstraZeneca and Panthera. The pandemic´s rampage created large problems for both society and companies. A combination of lack of containers, low harbor capacity, local lockdowns and cases of illness have collectively led to big delivery disruptions. Problems with transportation and delivery disruptions have affected the work with just-in-time and some companies needed to increase their inventory in order to keep production running. The cost of delivery and inventory have therefore increased. Delivery costs have in some cases increased up to 10 times compared to before the pandemic.

Except for the just-in-time aspect, companies´ work with lean has been virtually unchanged. In order to better manage delivery disruptions companies now prefer contractors who are geographically closer. Large companies have access to more resources and have therefore been able to fend off delivery disruptions better than smaller companies. The Swedish model´s way of handling the Covid-19 pandemic could also be a contributing factor in why the Swedish economy has not been as affected as many other countries. In order to ensure the validity of the result outside of the study, further research would need to be conducted.
