Abstract [en]

Alberga Community House is located in the small town of Alberga in the countryside in Eskilstuna municipality, about a thirty-minute drive to nearby towns Eskilstuna, Katrineholm, Arboga and Kungsör. Here, the traditional program of a Community house is expanded with art studios and workshops for different crafts, a cafe, dining room and a cooking kitchen with the overall purpose of creating a creative meeting place for a meaningful leisure time by inspiring self-sufficiency and sustainable consumption. The house has workshops for ceramics, wood, textiles, metal and car repair, larger studio halls and a gallery. Here, people can learn to, for instance, fix their cars, repair a broken chair and sew clothes. By offering local leisure activities, car travel can be reduced and the local community is strengthened. The goal is for Alberga Community House to become a meeting place for people from different backgrounds and of different ages, where, for example, grandmother can weave rugs in the sewing studio while her teenage grandchildren tinker with their epa-tractors in the workshop next door.
