Abstract [en]

The following report discusses a master's thesis in the field of mechanical design within the Machine Design track at the Royal Institute of Technology. The thesis was commissioned by Svea Teknik AB and Ovzon AB.

The project's starting point was an existing product in Ovzon's catalog, a satellite terminal of the T7 model. Currently, the product is sold as a "manpack," which is a portable product manually aligned with a satellite. Ovzon wished to explore the feasibility of designing a dock to quickly mount the T7 terminal. This would convert the satellite terminal into an "on the move" terminal, meaning that the satellite could automatically be directed towards a given satellite while the terminal is in motion, such as when mounted on a vehicle.

The main focus of the project was concept generation to provide Ovzon with a good understanding of possible designs. The concepts were evaluated after the concept generation phase to select the most promising ones from Ovzon's perspective. The "functions means tree" tool was used for concept generation to list all possible solutions for each problem. These solutions became individual concepts within reasonable limits. The "Pughs matrix" tool was used for evaluation, assessing the concepts based on weighted parameters to provide a clear understanding of the suitability of the different concepts.

The result was a dock with direct drive on both the horizontal and vertical axes. This concept did not receive the highest score in the Pughs matrix, but the client considered it to have several advantages that were difficult to capture in the matrix. In addition to designing the control system, an interface between the terminal and the dock was also developed to enable quick attachment or detachment. To ensure sufficient performance, finite element analysis was conducted on critical components, bearing calculations were performed, and the torque requirement on the motors was evaluated.

Denna rapport behandlar ett examensarbete inom masterspåret maskinkonstruktion vid Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan. Uppdragsgivarna för arbetet var Svea Teknik AB och Ovzon AB.

Projektet utgick från en befintlig produkt i Ovzons katalog, nämligen en satellitterminal av modell T7. För närvarande säljs produkten som en "manpack", vilket innebär att den är bärbar och manuellt riktad mot en satellit. Ovzon var intresserade av att undersöka möjligheten att konstruera en docka för att snabbt kunna montera T7-modellen i den. Målet var att konvertera satellitterminalen till en "on the move"-terminal, vilket innebär att satellitterminalen automatiskt kan riktas mot en given satellit medan terminalen är i rörelse, exempelvis monterad på ett fordon.

Projektets huvudfokus var att generera olika koncept för att ge Ovzon en klar bild av möjliga konstruktionslösningar. Koncepten utvärderades efter konceptgenereringsfasen för att välja de mest lovande alternativen ur Ovzons perspektiv. Vid konceptgenereringen användes ett funktionsträd för att lista alla möjliga lösningar för varje problem. Dessa lösningar blev sedan separata koncept inom rimliga gränser. För utvärderingen användes verktyget "Pughs matris", där koncepten bedömdes utifrån viktade parametrar för att ge en tydlig bild av deras lämplighet.

Resultatet av projektet blev en docka med direkt drivning i både horisontell och vertikal axel. Utöver rotationslösningar utformades även ett gränssnitt mellan terminalen och det roterande systemet för att möjliggöra montage av terminalen. För att säkerställa systemets prestanda utfördes FEM-analys på känsliga delar, lagerberäkningar, och till sist utvärderades vridmomentskraven för motorerna.
