Abstract [en]

Karosta - naval port of former Russian military base for almost a century. Occupies 1/3 of the city called Liepaja and it is located by the cost of the Baltic sea. Area is filled with diverse types of buildings that are mostly abandoned nowadays. Plundered and forgotten in nonentity by its former citizens. Karosta from being royal and an exclusive area has turned in to a local slum that falls in to irrelevance.

People who live in Liepaja would not choose Karosta area as their home. So the question is what to do with the area that no one wants to return to? This indicates the theses purpose, I believe that by uniting people and finding common interests for them it could help increase the value of the area. Project consist of two parts: urban scale (urban farming) and renovation of existing building that will transform in to marketplace. Delicate solutions for new improvements such as furniture and concrete trusses. Working with various scales by using the same elements in different interpretations.
