Abstract [en]

Almost thirty years have passed since the Velvet revolution in Czechoslovakia. How should we architecturally reflect upon actions that took place during the era of normalization*?

This project explores a furrow stretching through the old town of Bratislava, excavated during the construction of the Bridge of Slovak National Uprising over the river Danube.

A new architectural structure reintroduces the forgotten context of the city by merging essential values which have disappeared along the way. This project presents a strategy for healing the physical and mental furrow of the Old town of Bratislava  with purpose to raise awareness among people, for them to reflect and review  on the history of Bratislava  and disappeared heritage, to not be forgotten, but taken into account, while forming opinions.

* a term commonly given to period 1969- 1987 in Czechoslovakia, characterized by firm ruling position of the Comunist Party and subsequent preservation of this status quo.
