Compact broadband printed antenna for mobile phone applications

Abstract [en]

A printed monopole antenna is proposed for the broadband mobile phone applications with a compact radiator size of 20×60mm2. The broadband and miniaturization of antenna was realized by using multiple branching construction and folded radiator technique respectively. A ground path was shorted the ground plane of 80×60mm2 with a gap adjacency to the feeding strip for wideband. The proposed antenna provided a good wideband performance which covers the frequency band of GPS (1559-1610 MHz), DCS1800 (1710-1880 MHz), PCS1900 (1850-1990 MHz), UMTS2100 (1920-2170 MHz), LTE2300 (2305-2400 MHz), LTE2500 (2500-2690 MHz), Bluetooth and WIFI (2400-2484 MHz). Further experiments have demonstrated the proposed monopole antenna has a good performance for mobile phone applications.
