Vikbadet : new public pool in Saltsjöbaden (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Most of the Swedish indoor pools were built during the 1950’s-70’s and are now outdated or in need of ex-tensive renovations, as much as 80% of the buildings is considered to be out of date within a few years. This is the case for the public pool in Saltsjöbaden, where Nacka municipality calls for the need of a new one. The proposal for Vikbadet is a modest building wich aims to resolve the programming for a contemporary indoor pool house in a simple way without loosing qualities in experience.

The building design is drawn from the goal of maximizing the spaces and creating a compact and logic building with a clear sequence. Working with the materials of concrete, wood and ceramics the building is related to the previous public pool houses of sweden, but using the materials in a contemporary way.
