Abstract [en]

Substations for electrified railways are dimensioned to withstand short-term power peaks. However, exceeding power limits may cause additional subsequent cost. Hence the reduction of power peaks has a high cost saving potential. Currently the reduction of power peaks is addressed by providing simple instructions to train drivers which influence their driving style. Investigations to achieve more sophisticated methods to reduce power peaks are shown within this article.
