A Service Organization: Maintenance and Operations of Ultrasound Systems in the Healthcare Sector with a User Approach
KTH, School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology and Health (CBH).
2016 (English)Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years)), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
Abstract [en]

Ultrasound systems are a user dependent type of modality, despite this the collaboration between Ultrasound Application Specialists and Ultrasound Service Engineers are not that well established at Philips Health Systems. This thesis has examined the possibility of better collaboration between these areas, and if better collaboration could increase the availability of the ultrasound systems. Through comparison between the time it takes to solve a user-technical problem and a pure technical problem it was discovered that user-technical problems are more time consuming at Philips. Through interviews with employees it was found that the most important aspects for better collaboration were diverse information about the healthcare providers’ way of working, better routines for information sharing, and better knowledge about the area the ultrasound system is operating in.
