Abstract [en]

We report on an experimental demonstration of a mid-infrared free-space communication link enabled by a directly modulated quantum cascade laser operating at room temperature. A record high transmission rate up to 6 Gbps over 50-cm link distance is demonstrated at 4.65 mu m wavelength.
