Abstract [en]

In this contribution, we summarize the special properties of glide-symmetric periodic structures. In particular, we discuss how glide symmetries can increase the equivalent refractive index and decrease the dispersion of two-dimensional (2-D) periodic structures. Also, we discuss how glide symmetries can be used to improve the isotropy of 2-D periodic structures, or alternatively, to increase their anisotropy. Finally, we explain how glide-symmetric structures can enhance the bandwidth and attenuation levels of electromagnetic bandgaps.
