This project is an alternative renovation proposal for Bergshamra Centrum, which looks into and questions plans made by the municipality and Signalisten. I will argue that these plans as well as the updates that have been carried out over the years disregard Bergshamra Centrum's original identity as a large public space, and look into the Swedish system surrounding renovation, rent increase and what is referred to as 'modern standard'. The project includes adapting the existing apartments of the Bergshamra Centrum buildings, adding townhousing on the roof, moving Bergshamra Bibliotek to its original place on the ground floor of one of the buildings and using the current library building as an unprogrammed public space.
