Abstract [en]
The forests in Sweden are younger and more homogeneous than ever. This state makes the forestsretentive to vermin infestations and wildfires. Half of the animal species on the red list today inSweden are there due to the forestry. There is also an enormous leakage of carbon dioxide connectedto today’s treatment of the forests. We seem to look at the forests as effective plantations when it’sa world of species and organisms living in symbiosis.
If we as architects are to use wood in our projects, we should have a stronger connection to thematerial through al steps in the production chain. What kind forest do we contribute to by makingchoices in the design process of a building?By this project I wanted to understanding the whole process from forest to building."Are there choices architects can make in the design-process thatwould make a positive Impact on our forests?"
This project is about collecting and mapping knowledge, getting an overview and using this knowledgeto make conscious decisions in the design-process.
