Folkets verk är ett folkets hus riktat till lokalsamhället med samlingslokaler, mötesrum, ytor för evenemang, fest, men också en plats för skapande och vårdande med utgångspunkt i återbruk. Med återbruk som centralt fokus kan lokalsamhället lära sig om det ökande behovet av att återbruka i teorin, att laga och vårda i praktiken och samtidigt få tillgång till en plats där detta kan göras tillsammans med andra.

Utöver en öppen, lättillgänglig plats och byggnad för allmänhetens alla behov av att samlas finns verkstäder för trä, metall, textil, färg och montering för att återbruk och upcycling ska vara möjligt. Även inlämning, sortering och lager för omhändertagande av produkter finns i byggnaden och sköts av en kommersiell verksamhet. Material och produkter som inte verksamheten vill/behöver använda sig av tillgängliggörs för allmänhetens brukande.

Då byggnaden ska uppfattas som tillgänglig, öppen och ödmjuk är gestaltningen enkel, rationell och bekant. Byggnaden har placerats ödmjukt på en plats där lite inverkan behöver göras för att byggnaden ska kunna uppföras. Trä är både bärande material och klär byggnaden. Byggnaden är rationell och konstruktivt läsbar. Som motvikt till det strikta har variation skapats genom accentuerade entréer, i taklandskapets olika utformning och genom uppbrytningar och en bearbetad detaljering i fasader. 

Folkets verk is a community center for the local community with meeting rooms, areas for events, parties, but also a place for creating and caring for the already produced through recycling. With recycling as the central focus, the local community can learn about the growing need to recycle in theory, to repair and care for in practice and at the same time gain access to a place where this can be done together with others.

In addition to an open, easily accessible place and building for the general public's need to gather, there are workshops for wood, metal, textiles, painting and assembly to make recycling and upcycling possible. 

As the building is to be perceived as accessible, open and humble, the design is simple, rational and familiar. The building has been humbly placed in where the building can be erected without much impact in the existing environment. Wood is both the load-bearing material and clothes the building. The building is rational and constructively readable. As a counterweight to the strict, variation has been created through accentuated entrances, in the different design of the roof landscape and through detailing in facades
