Folkets Hus har blivit ett kännetecken för staden och urbana miljön, Naturum tar plats i det rurala men också vidare ut i den obebodda naturen. Att kombinera Naturumets placering och program med Folkets Hus möjligheter till möte mellan människor kan fylla ett behov som länge gapat tomt i Sveriges glesbygd men som vi i lokala initiativ kan läsa in en önskan av att fylla detta tomrum. Naturumen blir ett viktigt exempel på hur publika byggnader kan fungera och verka långt ifrån det urbana sammanhanget, och att de även där fyller både funktion och syfte. Den rurala miljön behöver ett offentligt rum att samlas i, ett rum som kombinerar platsens essens på ett sätt som exempelvis Naturumet gör utmärkt, med människors behov av att mötas runt kultur och samhällsfrågor som få verksamheter gjort med samma bravur som Folkets Hus. Detta projekt är en undersökning i hur Folkets hus roll och funktion i samhället kan kombineras med Naturumens placering och program i ett marint sammanhang. 

“Folkets Hus” has become a characteristic part of the swedish city and urban environment. “Naturum” finds its place in the rural and further into the uninhabited nature. To combine the placement of Naturum with the possibilities for people to meet that Folkets Hus offers can fill an empty gap in the Swedish countryside. Naturum is an important example of how public buildings can find a role far from the urban context, and that they even there have both function and purpose. The rural environment needs a public room to gather in, a room that combines the essence of the place in a way that the Naturum does in an excellent manner, together with peoples need to gather around culture and political questions in a way that few others have done greater in Sweden than Folkets Hus. This project is an investigation into how Folkets Hus role in society can combine with the program and placement of the Naturum in a marine rural context.
