Community centre on Mörkö - shared spaces for youth and farming of blue mussels (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The Community centre on Mörkö is a project that explores the agricultural municipality Södertälje's biggest environmental problem, eutrophication of the surface water, which is solved by creating water-filtering bluemussel farms near the agricultural outlet at Oaxen's ferry terminal. The cultivation infrastructure is then used to engage and create spaces for young people who live in the sparsely populated areas of the coast. The workshop is the core of the project, where the mussel farm's space is shared with young people who can be involved in the future of aquaculture, and at the same time have space to socialize and be creative in. The idea of multifunctional rooms applies to the entire building, where the activities that take place in the building can moved out into the large, public rooms or be separated into smaller rooms if several activities are taking place at the same time. The building connects to a pier that serves as an infrastructure for mussel farming, at the same time as it is a social meeting place that utilizes the farm's clear water and fishing opportunities.
