Abstract [en]

The thesis investigates and evaluates the implementation of augmented reality (AR) in construction production and the opportunities this technology can offer. The aim is to demonstrate the potential value of AR for various stakeholders in the production process. A qualitative method is employed to observe people's experiences and perspectives. Interviews are used as a data collection method, where predetermined questions are posed to individuals with different professional roles within the construction industry. The results indicate the importance of providing older individuals with the opportunity to learn and use digital tools in the construction industry. Age is not considered decisive, but it requires time and commitment to become proficient. A recommendation is to allow sufficient time and avoid criticism based on lack of experience. It also emphasizes the importance of ensuring that everyone understands the potential and benefits of using digital tools correctly.AR tools can be enriching for newcomers in the industry by aiding in the understanding and visualization of the dimensions of various constructions. By observing and interacting with models, a better understanding can be achieved, particularly for those without prior experience working with complex structures. Additionally, AR tools can facilitate exploration and assessment of planned constructions, which can be useful during presentations to clients.Documentation plays a crucial role in ensuring that agreed commitments are carried out within the timeframe. Photodocumentation and the use of 3D cameras can facilitate communication and identify obstacles or unfinished parts at the construction site. A digital diary in the Dalux program enables traceability of changes, work progress, and time consumption, thereby facilitating communication between project managers and assemblers.AR models can also be useful in the planning of neighborhoods, where citizens can obtain a visual representation of the future area. This can reduce misunderstandings and facilitate negotiations regarding detailed plans.Challenges identified include the need to make everyone understand the potential and willingness to use digital tools correctly. Investment costs and the need to learn new systems can be obstacles. However, digitization can reduce construction errors, save time and resources, and improve communication and document management. In conclusion, the thesis demonstrates that the implementation of AR in construction production offers several advantages and opportunities. To succeed, an understanding of the technology's potential and a strategy for implementation are necessary.
