Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

During recent years, strength training has become more popular. The popularity in combination with the freedom offered by companies to let their employees work from home have led to businesses offering a wide variety of products and services that make strength training at home possible. The available home gyms can be technologically advanced and user friendly but lack the aspect which makes them a part of the interior design of a home. This was the inspiration for the project which intends to create a concept of a home gym which both solves the problem regarding the function of a home gym but also the design aspects which make it a part of the home.

The project started with a project analysis where the methods intended to be used were decided. Additionally, various aspects which affected the project were identified. Thereafter three analyses were performed: future analysis, market analysis, and sustainability analysis. The analyses in combination with interviews and independent research laid the foundation for the project.

The next performed step was the identification of the target group and their needs. In parallel a function analysis was made to aid in generating the ideas. This led to four concepts which were evaluated with criteria weighting method and two customer journeys. The concept Koncept Tech TV was the one chosen to further develop.

The development of the chosen concept led to an innovative solution to integrate the home gym by placing it in the living room. The concept was a motor driven cable machine. The placement in the living room would take advantage of the often-unused space in front of the TV. Furthermore, the user could use the TV to follow work out programs and store accessories in the TV table.
