Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Five different methods were used to modify softwood kraft lignin with the goal of increasing the reactivity of lignin towards epoxide groups. Lignin samples were characterized with NMR and FTIR while reactivity was measured through rheometry. Methods that increased carboxylic acid content in lignin decreased reactivity. Lignin modification with resorcinol decreased reactivity while lignin modified with phenol increased reactivity.
