Abstract [en]

This thesis investigates the life cycle analysis of a microlauncher. It proposes methods and approaches that can be implemented to characterize the environmental impact of each phase of a rocket life cycle. It emphasizes on the design, the extraction of raw materials, manufacturing, infrastructure, payload integration, testing, distribution, the flight phase, maintenance and the end-of-life phase. After an overall presentation of Life Cycle Analysis, particular attention is paid to launch vehicle flight phases. Atmospheric pollution caused by microlauncher engines and the rocket fallout impact through safety studies are assessed. These are two subjects that demand further simulation and scientific analysis. Throughout this document, various limitations and opportunities for enhancement are outlined. Conducting an environmental impact assessment on a space segment is, indeed, akin to engaging in research. Life cycle analysis is a recent topic in the space industry and has not been tackled to the same extent as for other industries.

Detta examensarbete undersöker livscykelanalysen av en mikroraket. Den föreslår metoder och tillvägagångssätt som kan implementeras för att karakterisera miljöpåverkan av varje fas i en rakets livscykel: design, utvinning av råmaterial, tillverkning, infrastruktur, nyttolastintegration, testning, distribution, flygfas, underhåll och livslängdsfas. Efter en övergripande presentation av livscykelanalys ägnas särskild uppmärksamhet åt bärraketens flygfaser. Atmosfäriska föroreningar som orsakas av mikrouppskjutningsmotorer och nedfallet av raketens inverkan genom säkerhetsstudier utvärderas. Detta är två ämnen som kräver ytterligare simulering och vetenskaplig analys. I denna rapport beskrivs olika begränsningar och möjligheter till förbättringar. Att genomföra en miljökonsekvensbedömning av ett rymdsegment är verkligen att likna vid att ägna sig åt forskning. Livscykelanalys är ett nytt ämne inom rymdindustrin och har inte hanterats i samma utsträckning som för andra industrier.
