Load combination in the FE-software Sofistik (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The main purpose of the thesis was to develop a user-friendly reference guide for Sitowise Sweden AB for the usage of the FE software Sofistik. The guide aims to describe in detail how various features of the software can be utilized to analyze the impact which a load model has on a simple structure, which in this study is made up of a simple concrete slab. The slab is fixed against rotation and translation at both end supports. The report includes a comparison between the software's predefined load models and user defined load models. This comparison aims to explore how the impact of a load model on a structure can be analyzed with the use of the software’s own influence lines and the method known as the user-generated load stepping technique. The comparison includes four different examples. In the first two examples, a predefined load model from Sofistik’s library is selected, and its effect on the structure is analyzed using the software’s influence lines. The other two examples involve user-defined load models, where their impact on the structure is examined with the user-generated load stepping method. The obtained results from the load model’s impact on the structure have been combined with the dead load of the concrete slab through load combination for all four examples. The study has shown that the analysis of the software’s predefined load models through the usage of influence lines and user defined load models with the stepping technique mostly yield somewhat comparable results, although with a few exceptions where the difference in result has varied between 2 and 18%.
