WRflares : Att använda linsreflektioner i digitala media för att leda uppmärkasmhet i virtuell verklighet (Swedish)
Abstract [en]

In this paper, the viability of using a lens flare analog as a visual cue for attention guidance in virtual reality is explored. This is achieved through the development and proposal of a prototype called WRflares, which is evaluated through a heuristic study with virtual reality developers. WRflares was subsequently improved based on the feedback obtained from the heuristic study and further examined through a user study involving six different environmental conditions. The results show promise for the use of this type of semi-diegetic visual cue, with both developers and participants expressing appreciation for how the design fit within the virtual worlds. The findings also indicated that the WRflares prototype design might need to be customized based on the environment of the virtual world in which it is used to maximize the perception of the cue as being diegetic. Limitations of this study include the limited number of environments explored and the relatively small sample size for the heuristic test. For future research, the study suggests comparing this design to other state-of-the-art visual cues for VR environments and further exploring the impact of visual cues on user presence.
