Abstract [en]

LiDAR, which stands for Light Detection and Ranging, serves as a remote measurementtechnique for studying atmospheric properties, such as gas and particle concentration, aswell as wind speed [23]. The detectors employed in such measurements play a crucial rolein determining factors such as resolution, maximum range, and acquisition time. SuperconductingNanowire Single Photon Detectors (SNSPDs) exhibit exceptional performance characteristics,including high detection efficiency, minimal timing jitter, low dead time, a high maximum countrate, and a high Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) even in the infrared [7]. Consequently, SNSPDsemerge as promising candidates for enhancing the quality of LiDAR signals within the infraredrange. In this work, I study the absorption and broadening mechanism of CO2 spectral linesaround 2¹m. Furthermore, I measured a backscatter signal from water and candle vapors whilea measurement of backscatter light from CO2 gas is still to come. Lastly, I perform a LiDARmeasurement with a Newtonian telescope co-operating with SNSPDs, to build a 3D image of adepth target.

LiDAR, som står för Light Detection and Ranging, fungerar som en fjärrmätningsmetod föratt studera atmosfärens egenskaper som gas- och partikel- koncentrationer eller vindhastighet[12]. Detektorerna spelar en avgörande roll för att bestämma faktorer som upplösning, maximalräckvidd och mätningstid. Supraledande Nanotråds Enstaka-Foton Detektorer (SNSPD) uppvisarexceptionella karakteristika, inklusive hög detektionseffektivitet, tidsupplösning, låg dödtid, högbandbredd och ett högt Signal-to-Noise-Ratio (SNR), även i det infraröda spektrumet [3]. Därförframstår SNSPD som lovande kandidat för att förbättra kvaliteten på LiDAR-signaler inom detinfraröda spektralområdet. I detta arbete studerar jag absorption samt breddningsmekanismenav CO2 spektra vid 2 ¹m våglängden. Vidare har jag mätt återkastningssignaler från vattenångoroch ljus rök. Mätningen av återkastningsljus från CO2-gas fortfarande är på gång. Slutligenvisar jag en LiDAR-mätning med hjälp av ett Newtonteleskop och SNSPD, och skapar en 3D-bildav ett kalibrerad objekt.
