I Sverige där andelen ensamhushåll är hög och segregation samt klyftor i samhället ökar, är det viktigt att arbeta med skapandet av mötesplatser där man möjliggör social integrering. Mötesplatser spelar en viktig roll ur ett socialt perspektiv, särskilt i utsatta områden. De skapar miljöer där människor kan känna sig inkluderade, sedda och delaktiga men även platser som främjar gemenskap, kunskapsutbyte, samhällsengagemang, stöd och samarbete. I ett land som Sverige där vädret under största delen av året består av regn, snö och kyla är det därför viktigt att dessa platser även finns inomhus.

Dessutom har samverkan en stor betydelse för att lyfta utsatta områden. Genom att olika aktörer går ihop för att arbeta gemensamt mot att förbättra ett område kan man skapa en positiv samhällsförändring. Ett exempel på detta finns redan genom en samverkansmodell som kallas för Business Improvement District (BID), som visar hur samarbete kan vara en effektiv strategi för att främja och förbättra utvecklingen i utsatta områden.

Syftet med den här studien är att undersöka möjligheten om målsättningar kan integreras inom BID-föreningars arbete, med avsikten att långsiktigt säkra tillgången av samlingslokaler. I uppsatsen görs en kvalitativ studie genom dokumentstudier och intervjuer. Syftet med dessa metoder är att utforska hur man arbetar med social hållbarhet inom svenska BIDs och bedöma behovet av av samlingslokaler inom de områden som undersöks. Studien granskar dessutom betydelsen av samlingslokaler och dess bidrag till främjandet av social hållbarhet. Genom litteraturstudier analyseras sedan resultatet utifrån de valda teorierna för att få en bredare kontext och djupare förståelse av ämnesområdena.

Studien betonar betydelsen av att samhällets alla aktörer engagerar sig för att främja social hållbarhet och skapa en mer hållbar framtid. Det finns flera olika strategier för att realisera social hållbarhet, inom BIDs ligger fokuset på trygghetsskapande och brottsförebyggande aspekter, där åtgärder hämtats från olika brottsförebyggande teorier.

Dessutom lyfter studien vikten av samlingslokaler för att främja social hållbarhet och trygghetsskapande arbete. Genom att möjliggöra för möten som ökar gemenskap och känslan av trygghet i samhället, bidrar samlingslokaler positivt till samhällsutvecklingen.

Vidare om BID är lösningen eller inte, att långsiktigt säkra tillgången av dessa samlingslokaler, är dock inte säkert. Potentialer finns men utmaningarna i dagsläget är många.

In Sweden, where the proportion of single-person households is high, segregation and gaps in society are increasing, it is important to work with the creation of meeting places where social integration is enabled. Meeting places play an important role from a social perspective, especially in vulnerable areas. They create places where people can feel included, seen and involved, but also places that promote community, knowledge exchange, community involvement, support and collaboration. In a country like Sweden, where the weather for most of the year consists of rain, snow and cold, it is therefore also important that these places are indoors.In addition, a sense of community is of great importance in lifting vulnerable areas. By different actors coming together to work as a team to improve an area, positive social change can be created. An example of this already exists through a collaboration model called the Business Improvement District (BID), which shows how collaboration can be an effective strategy for promoting and improving development in vulnerable areas.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the possibility of whether objectives can be integrated within the work of BID associations, with the intention of securing the long-term availability of these premises. In the essay, a qualitative study was made through document studies and interviews. The purpose of these methods was to explore how to work with social sustainability within Swedish BIDs and to assess the need for gathering spaces within the areas being investigated. The study also examines the importance of gathering spaces and its contribution to the promotion of social sustainability. Through literature studies, the results were then analyzed based on the selected theories to gain a broader context and deeper understanding of the subject areas.

The study emphasizes the importance of all actors in society getting involved to promote social sustainability and create a more sustainable future. There are several different strategies to realize social sustainability, within BIDs the focus is on safety-creation and crime prevention aspects, where measures are taken from different crime prevention theories.

In addition, the study highlights the importance of gathering spaces to promote social sustainability and safety-creation work. By enabling meetings that increase community and the feeling of security in society, meeting rooms contribute positively to social development.

Furthermore, whether BID is the solution or not, to secure the long-term availability of these gathering spaces, is not certain. There is potential, but there are still many challenges ahead.
