Abstract [en]
Jordbro is a suburb in southern Stockholm. It was built during the Million program era, in the 1960s, and like similar areas it is today in need of refurbishment and modernization. It is an area of the recent past, that certainly has a lot of cultural values, even though it is not old enough to be considered a cultural heritage. Meanwhile, the area is probably more known for its socio-economic challenges. One issue is overcrowding, due to a lack of affordable spacious apartments. There is also a lack of small apartments in the area, with the consequence that many young adults cannot leave home. When looking at the history of the area and digging in the archives, I came across a small and forgotten office building with an interesting history. It was originally built as housing, but later transformed into an office, and now it is planned to be demolished to give space to expensive new production. What I am investigating is how this building, with small gestures, can be reused and turned into housing again. It should be a type of housing that is suited for the needs of Jordbro today, focusing on the apartment types that are missing in the area.
