Abstract [en]

This research focuses on developing a methodology for evaluating the performance of five-axis milling machines, driven by the increasing demands for enhanced precision and superior surface finish in machined components. A methodology for performance evaluation of 5- axis milling machine is proposed in this thesis. The proposed methodology introduces an innovative artifact designed specifically to evaluate the accuracy and operational performance of five-axis machines. The proposed artifact consists of 14 machining features. The artifact is characterized by its modular and scalable design, providing flexibility to accommodate various testing requirements. The design of the artifact was meticulously crafted using CAD software, followed by a simulation of the machining process in CAM software to produce the necessary CNC code. Prototyping was also an integral part in understanding the artifact in 3-dimensional space and mapping it to axis utilization.

Detta examensarbete fokuserar på att utveckla en metod för att utvärdera prestandan hos fleraxliga bearbetningsmaskiner. Behovet av att kunna utvärdera bearbetningsmaskiner kommer från ökande krav på precision och ytfinhet hos den färdigbearbetade produkten. Detta examensarbete föreslår en metod för utvärdering av prestandan hos femaxliga fräsmaskiner. Detta arbete presenterar en ny provkropp designad för att utvärdera noggrannheten och den operativa prestandan hos femaxliga fräsmaskiner. Provkroppen består av 14 bearbetningsfunktioner och är modulär samt skalbar för att kunna anpassas efter skiftande testkrav. Provkroppen är designad med CAD, bearbetningsprocessen är simulerad och CNC kod genererad i CAM. Inom arbetet har även prototyper av provkroppen tillverkats med hjälp av 3D-printning. Prototyperna har under arbetet, bland annat, bidragit till att förstå koppling mellan provkroppens bearbetningsfunktioner och bearbetningsmaskinens frihetsgrader.
