Sorunda is an old parish and agricultural community that has existed since the Middle Ages. Today, about 6,000 people live in this area spread out over several small villages. In the heart of the parish, Sorunda Church is located. It is placed on a large field that constitutes Sorunda. It is in Sorunda that this project has its point of departure. The ambition is to create a contemporary public building with a hybrid program. Furthermore, the building must be a natural and enriching addition to the church and Sorunda in general. Keywords for the project are Wedding, Field and Conservation.

The word "Wedding" stands for the building’s functional use as a place for larger festivals and events. The word "Field" describes how the building makes the agricultural landscape its main attraction. The word "Conservation" highlights the project’s focus on conserving the inherent values of Sorunda both in the past, the present and the future.

The result is a 2,066 square meter large building in wood, containing a hostel, seed bank, restaurant and an orangery. The program also contains a main entrance with a reception, green houses, a crop field and outdoor seating.

Sorunda är en gammal socken och jordbruksbygd som funnits sedan medeltiden. Här bor idag cirka 6,000 invånare uppdelat på ett antal mindre tätorter. I hjärtat av Sorunda ligger Sorunda kyrka, placerad mitt på den slätt som bygden utgör. Det är i Sorunda som detta projekt har sin utgångspunkt. Ambitionen är att skapa en samtida offentlig byggnad med ett hybridiskt program. Byggnaden ska även bli ett naturligt och berikande tillägg för både kyrkan och bygden i stort. Ledord för projektet har varit bröllop, åker och bevaring.

Ordet bröllop berättar om byggnadens funktion som en plats för större högtider och evenemang. Ordet åker beskriver hur byggnaden gör landskapet till sin huvudsakliga attraktion. Ordet bevaring förtäljer projektets fokus på att bevara de värden som Sorunda bär på både historiskt, idag och i framtiden.

Resultatet är en 2066 kvadratmeter stor byggnad i trä innehållande ett vandrarhem, en genbank, en restaurang och ett orangeri. I programmet förekommer även en entré med reception, växthus, ett odlingsfält och en uteservering.
