59.4% of Nynäshamn consists of forest, yet the main focus of municipality lies in the harbour and the industries surrounding it. Simultaneously secondary school statistics, in redgards to grade average and participation rate, of Nynäshamn consistently scores below average in Sweden. The project WOOD&LAND LAB aspires to meet these factual points by creating a space that brings dignity to the forest and the wood industry, while also strengthen Nynäshamn's identity as a "wooden municipality". The project also aspires to lift the educational orientations that highlights this, such as the Builder and craftsmanship course. Located between Nicksta and the Näset nature area, WOOD&LAND LAB aims to make it more accessible, increase participation and interest in

nature and ecosystem. A particular focus is placed on wood and forestry.

Through a new research center for wood connected with an interactive nature museum and an extended walking path, the project aspires to be able to create a natural place for people to meet each other in the context of nature, construction and sustainability. This is regardless of age, academic level or previous knowledge. WOOD&LAND LAB also creates a tourist attraction that generates visits all year round, as the concept is independent of seasons and seasons. By opening the door and giving space for the municipality's identity to develop, the project hopes to be able to contribute to a more sustainable present, in terms of the construction industry, tourism and education.

Nynäshamn besår till 59,4% av skogsmark, ändå ligger det stora fokuset i kommunen på hamnen, industrin och turistnäringen. Detta i kombination med den bristande utbildningsstatistiken i kommunen är nyckeltal för projektet WOOD&LAND LAB. Beläget mellan Nicksta och naturområdet Näset, ser projektet att kunna tillgängliggöra samt öka deltagandet och intresset för

natur och ekosystem. Ett särskilt fokus läggs på trä och skogsbruk. Syftet med projektet är även att

stärka Nynäshamns identitet som ”trä-kommun” och på så sätt även belysa samt

motivera de utbildningar som stärker denna, som exempelvis Bygg och hantverks-linjen.

Genom ett nytt forskningscentrum för trä sammanbundet med ett interaktivt naturmuseum och ett utökat promenadstråk, aspirerar projektet till att kunna skapa en naturlig plats för personer att möta varandra i kontexten av natur, bygg och hållbarhet. Detta oavsett ålder, akademisk nivå eller tidigare kunskap. WOOD&LAND LAB skapar även en turistattraktion som genererar besök året om, då konceptet är oberoende av årstider och säsonger. Genom att öppna dörren och ge utrymme för kommunens identitet att utvecklas, hoppas projektet på att kunna bidra till en mer hållbar nutid, sett till byggindustrin, turistnäring och utbildning.
