An exploration of hybrid architecture in the port of Nynäshamn. This project combines two key aspects of the city's waterfront location: its tourism and its rich boat culture. Combining these in a marine visitor center allows the project to answer many surrounding challenges at once. The building, centrally located in the port on the site of a former parking area, enables tourists to orient themselves in the city while simultaneously acting as a bridge between visitors and locals. The project aims to capture, protect, and make visible the local boating culture through exhibitions, workshops, and larger gathering areas. The project also tries to encapsulate the small-scale nature of the port while also using its strategic position to protect and encourage pedestrians. The goal is to provide the existing harbor with a clear framework and allow the culture that has already developed in the area to thrive instead of being phased out. The hope is that this project can act as a starting point for Nynäshamn in its journey towards reestablishing itself as a cozy and culturally rich port, and in doing so also improve the morale and self-image of the city as a whole.

En utforskning av hybridarkitektur i Nynäshamn hamn. Detta projekt kombinerar två viktiga aspekter av stadens vattennära läge: dess turism och dess rika båtkultur. Att kombinera dessa i ett marint besökscenter gör att projektet kan svara på många omgivande utmaningar samtidigt. Byggnaden, centralt belägen i hamnen på en tidigare parkeringsplats, gör det möjligt för turister att orientera sig i staden samtidigt som den fungerar som en brygga mellan besökare och lokalbefolkning. Projektet syftar till att främja, skydda och synliggöra den lokala båtkulturen genom utställningar, verkstad och större samlingslokaler. Projektet försöker också bibehålla hamnens småskaliga känsla samtidigt som det använder sitt strategiska läge för att skydda och uppmuntra hamnens brukare. Målet är att ge den befintliga hamnen en tydlig inramning och låta den kultur som redan växt fram på platsen frodas istället för att avveckals. Förhoppningen är att detta projekt kan fungera som en starskott för Nynäshamns ambition om att åetetablera sitt anseende som en mysig, vattennära och kulturrik hamnstad och i längden även stärka bilden Nynäshamns invånare idag har av sin egen stad.
