As phase 2 in a complete transformation of Svandammsparken and Nynäshamn Station, this project consists of a new multifunctional station building and a new dynamic and pleasant public space. After phase 1, which included a restructuring of the station area's bus route and an expansion of Svandammsparken's green areas, a need was identified to connect the empty platform to the adjacent park and city life. The new station building introduces visitors to a vibrant Nynäshamn. Under the same roof, the necessities of the train station and its inherrent waiting nature blend with the park's outdoor activities. The building is characterized by its elongated site, stretching from one end of the 230m long platform, where a playground and an outdoor gym rest among the reeds of Svandammen, to the other end, where arrivals and departures are greeted by an open station house and library. In between, visitors will also find a bicycle shop, a restaurant, a flower shop, a publicly accessible stage, and a park café. The project's division into different building sections under one unified roof emphasizes the movement between the platform and the park's nearby functions, such as the bus terminal and the walkways towards the city center. The roof also forms a weather-protected promenade along the park, as well as weather-protected waiting areas towards the train platform and between the complex's building sections. The building's interior and Svandammsparken's interaction with the building benefit from light influx through the vertical windows in the roof design. The building's material expression is the same as the components of its frame, namely steel trusses supported by sturdy rows of concrete columns. The choice of materials is motivated by a counteraction to monotony with the area's preference for historical wooden cottages as well as a tribute to the city's historical connection to industry. The interior building sections consist of simple wooden structures, making the project open to simple and energy-efficient functional transformations, while the solid roof and column construction remain as a lasting statement of Nynäshamn's character.

Som etapp 2 i en total omformning av Svandammsparken och Nynäshamns Station, skapas nu en ny multifunkionell stationsbyggnad och en ny dynamisk och trevlig allmän plats. Efter etapp 1, som omfattade en omstrukturering av stationsområdets bussväg, och en utökning av Svandammsparkens grönområden, identifierades ett behov att knyta samman den tomma perrongen till Svandammsparken och stadslivet. Det nya stationshuset introducerar besökare till ett levande Nynäshamn. Under samma tak samlas tågstationens nödvändigheter och inhemska väntande natur med parkens friluftsliv. Byggnaden kännetecknas av den avlånga formen som sträcker sig från ena ändan av den 230m långa perrongen, där en parklek och ett utegym vilar bland svandammens vass, till den andra ändan, där ankomst och avfärd möts av ett öppet stationshus och bibliotek. Däremellan finner besökare även en cykelbutik, en restaurang, en blomsteraffär, en allmäntillgänglig scen, och ett parkcafé. Projektets indelning i olika huskroppar under ett samlat tak betonar rörelsen mellan perrongen och parkens närliggande funktioner, såsom bussterminalen, och gångvägarna mot stadens centrum. Taket utformar även ett väderskyddat promenadstråk utmed parken, samt väderskyddade väntplatser mot tågperrongen och mellan komplexets huskroppar. Byggnadens interiör samt Svandammsparkens möte med byggnaden gynnas av ljusinsläpp från takformens vertikala fönster. Byggnadens materiella uttryck är detsamma som beståndsdelarna av dess stomme, nämligen ståltakstolar burna av bastanta pelarrader i betong. Materialvalet motiveras av en motverkan från enformighet med områdets förkärlek för historiska trästugor samt en eloge till stadens historiska anknytning till industri. De invändiga huskropparna består av enkla träkonstruktioner, vilket lämnar projektet öppet till enkel och energisnål omvandling i funktion, medan den stadiga tak- och pelarkonstruktionen står kvar som ett långvarigt uttalande för Nynäshamns karaktär.
