Abstract [en]

This report studies the complex permittivity (εr ) of3D-printed dielectric materials as a function of its level of infillfor two unit-cell designs in the X-band range (8.2-12.4 GHz).First by using simulations in CST Microwave Studio and thenreal tests on 3D-printed pieces. Using a waveguide based testsetup with a sample holder the permittivity was found by usingthe Nicolson-Ross-Weir (NRW) method and Through-Reflect-Line (TRL) calibration. The results presented in this reportindicate that this method could be used for accurate permittivitymeasurements. A novel Fresnel zone plate lens (FZPL) for ahorn antenna was designed and simulated. The lens could notbe measured due to time constraints but the horn antenna wassimulated and measured which showed a directivity of 20.4 dBi.
