Abstract [en]

This thesis outlines thedesign, construction and performance testingof a catapult built to launch small, fixed-wingUAV:s. New components were designed andmanufactured based on issues identified in analready existing catapult launcher.Simulations and performance testing weredone to determine the efficiency of the catapultand an attempt to launch a small UAV fromthe catapult was made. The results from theperformance tests were inconclusive but whencompared with the simulation results, theyhighlighted the most effective areas ofimprovement. The UAV was destroyed duringthe launch test.

Dettakandidatexamensarbete beskriver design ochtillverkning av, samt prestandatest på enkatapult byggd för att skjuta upp småobemannade luftfarkoster (UAV) med fastavingar. Nya komponenter designades ochtillverkades baserat på problem somupptäckts i en redan existerande katapult.Simuleringar och prestandatest utfördes föratt bestämma katapultens verkningsgrad ochett försök att skjuta upp en liten UAV medkatapulten genomfördes. Resultaten frånprestandatesten var otydliga men när dejämfördes med resultaten från simuleringarnavisade de vilka åtgärder som mest kommeröka katapultens prestanda. UAV:n förstördesunder uppskjutningstestet.
