Abstract [en]
This project is about Strandvägen, the Million Program, and countless structures that have shaped life in Sweden and beyond. It's a tale of limestone and time, but most importantly, it's the story of a small industrial town outside of Kumla called Yxhult that played a crucial role in shaping life in Sweden with its almost-forgotten local production of stone, autoclaved aerated concrete called Ytong, and Maxi stone.
This project is an exhibition with posters and three movies. In the exhibition, one can listen to the memories of the abandoned production that you can hear if you listen carefully enough and learn how the production and its impact resonate far beyond the confines of the small village it came from.
This is a case study of a bruksort that speaks about how Sweden navigates local production, innovation, exploitation, and globalization.
