This project investigates the adaptive reuse of an industrial property in Örnsberg, Stockholm, with the goal of creating a permanent center for film production. The film industry in Stockholm has long struggled with temporary production facilities that are poorly suited for film work. This lack of continuity and long-term planning not only wastes resources but also creates a problematic work environment. Örnsberg is one of the areas where film production has been prevalent over the past decade, but this is now under threat as large parts of its small industrial zone face potential demolition for new housing developments. Based on a program inspired by SVT's former Fiktionshuset, this project explores how the property could be adapted for permanent use in film production. Moreover, it explores the spatial tensions arising from the juxtaposition of the original industrial buildings and current urban planning principles, highlighting the often underappreciated aesthetic characteristics of late 20th-century industrial architecture.
