Abstract [en]

In our modern society, wireless communication has become very important, as has ensuring stable communication between various systems, devices, and applications. But how do we ensure these stable connections? For wireless communication to work, multiple modulation types are utilized. This thesis focuses on testing the OFDM and GFSK modulation techniques in real-life multipath fading environments. The experiments utilizes hardware provided from TI to perform these measurements to see how the techniques par against each other in regards to Link Performance. The results indicate that GFSK performs better when it comes to steady 50 kbps data rates. However, when higher data rates are required, and especially with a limited bandwidth, OFDM would be preferable.

I vårt moderna samhälle har trådlös kommunikation blivit mycket viktig, så även att säkerställa stabil kommunikation mellan olika system, enheter och applikationer. Men hur säkerställer vi dessa stabila förbindelser? För att trådlös kommunikation ska fungera används moduleringstekniker av olika slag. Detta kandidatexamensarbete fokuserar på att testa OFDM och GFSK-modulationstekniker i verkliga flervägsfading- miljöer. Experimenten använder tillhandahållen hårdvara från TI för att utföra dessa tester för att se hur teknikerna jämförs med varandra när det gäller länkprestanda. Resultaten indikerar att GFSK är bättre när det gäller stabila 50 kbps datahastigheter. Men när mer och snabbare data behövs, och särskilt med en begränsad bandbredd, är OFDM bättre.
