(Swedish)
Abstract [en]

Eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa are effectively addressed through cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). However, there is a gap in the integration of technology, particularly conversational agents, to provide CBT for these disorders, potentially exacerbated by unhealthy fixations. This thesis presents a conversational agent design process for young adults at risk of developing eating disorders, incorporating CBT principles, personalized interactions, real-time support, mindfulness and stress management techniques, demonstrating potential therapeutic benefits. The study offers a design framework for integrating CBT principles into conversational agents, highlighting the assistant potential for accessible, stigma-free support in mental health care, and provides practical guidance for designing therapeutic tools for young adults.
