Abstract [en]

Dezincification of alpha-brass first became recognised as a problem when brass tubes were used in heat exchangers with seawater in the cooling system. In the early 1920s alloy additions of As were shown to inhibit DA. Later, P and Sb were both found to have a similar influence. Reports of Intergranular attack, IGA, appeared from time to time, however, in dezincification resistant brass.
