On the Spatital Capacity of Slotted Packet Radio Systems with Capture

Abstract [en]

In the report we analyze random packet radio networks with power capture. Only slotted networks are considered. As performance measure the expected forward progress per slot and unit area is used. A class of combined routing-access algorithms is introduced. The spatial capacity is then defined as supremum of the expected forward progress per slot and unit area over the class of routing-access algorithms. For the special case of "linear" networks both upper and lower bounds of the spactial capacity are derived. An approximate upper bound for the spatial capacity is also derived for "planar" networks. Several regular patterns of transmission are also analysed. These regular5 patterns can be used in the design of new spatial TDMA-routing-access algorithms.
