2006 (English)In: Proceedings of the 5th International Conference of DAAAM Baltic Industrial Engineering - Adding Innovation Capacity of Labour Force and Entrepreneur / [ed] Kyttner, R, 2006, 11-16 p.Conference paper (Refereed)
Today, effective product development (PD) is a key issue in industry, to survive and grow in the ever increasing global competition. Some current trends in product development and product realisation (design and production) are: Industrial structure establishing of new enterprises based on research and innovation; as well as geographically distributed product development within multinational corporations and in the value chain of component suppliers - product integrators. Other important issues are the balance between an efficient structured PD process and more free innovation; development of complex multi-technology system products; VR (Virtual Reality) and model driven PD; integration of industrial design and environmentally sustainable technology to handle "soft" product properties.
