Abstract [en]

The influence of fan speed and fan loading on broadband noise has been experimentallyinvestigated in a low-speed scale fan rig. Based on the measurements, a simple semi-empiricalnoise model has been developed. This model enables the extrapolation of the acoustic data to alarger range of fan operating conditions. A minimum of broadband noise could be identified andlocated in the vicinity of the optimum of fan aerodynamic efficiency.
