Through a investigation on how the notion of non-places has been described and which places har been named as such the thesis unveil hegemonic discourses within the fields of architecture and urban design. If a phenomena is named as a 'non-place' what is then a 'place'? And how is that decided? A reading on how dichotomic viewpoints have framed teh considerations of place, landscapes, beauty, ugly and feminine is made with support from historic and contemporary literature and examples. The author also performs a reading on Spillepengens reacreation area outside Malmö through spatial excursions presented in text and images in the thesis.
