Abstract [en]

The role of environmental information in solving the transboundary river basin issues and water management is discussed. Environmental information is also used in transboundary policy and decision making. The Register of International Rivers (RIR) defines international river basins as the area that contributes hydrologically to a first order stream. An experimental study conducted with Estonian water managers and policy makers involved with the transboundary Lake Peipsi region shows that for policy purposes, the environmental information is in great demand.
