Rebuilding senior high school in Stockholm surburbs. (English)
Abstract [en]

The aim of the report is to develop a new design proposal for an existing

senior high school building in Skärholmens Center, Stockholm. The

schoolhouse is a result of the extensive residential project during the

period between the years 1965-75 in our large cities peripheral and holds

anonymous

and "gray face" that has characterized many houses from the

same era. Over the years, the number of students steadily declined and

the reason lies partly in the school's physical environment which can

certainly be regarded as substandard. This despite the fact that it is

located right next to Sweden´s largest trading block. A thorough analysis

of the school building and the ambient area has been made in

combination with a continuous dialogue with students and staff at the

school. The school building has subsequently been transformed and given

a new look with the hope to contribute to a nicer, safer, more attractive

and stimulating learning- and workplace. To achieve the result, an

extensive research on the physical school environment and its meaning

has been made, which many experienced school architects and experts

considered valued lower than it should. The transformation involves a

major reconstruction of a now very anonymous school house in a

suburban environment which would result, what may seem as an

expensive business, but according to many, yet one well spent.

Rapporten syftar till att ta fram ett nytt gestaltningsförslag till ett

befintligt gymnasieskolhus i Skärholmens Centrum. Skolhuset är ett

resultat av det omfattande miljonprogrammets utbredning i våra

storstäders perifera och håller det diskreta och

”gråa ansiktet” som

präglat många hus från samma era. Med åren har antalet elever sakta

men säkert sjunkit och orsaken ligger delvis i skolans fysiska miljö som

säkerligen kan betraktas som undermålig. Detta trots att den ligger strax

intill vårt lands största handelsområde. En grundlig analys har gjorts av

skolbyggnaden och området i kombination med en kontinuerlig dialog

förd tillsammans med elever och personal vid skolan. Skolhuset har

därefter omformats och getts ett nytt utseende med förhoppningen att

bidra till en trevligare, tryggare, attraktivare och mer stimulerande lärooch

arbetsplats. För att nå resultatet har en forskning gjorts kring den

fysiska skolmiljön och dess innebörd som av många erfarna skolarkitekter

och experter anses värderas lägre än den borde. Omvandlingen innebär

en omfattande rekonstruktion av ett idag väldigt anonymt skolhus i

förortsmiljö vilket skulle medföra, vad som kan tyckas vara en dyr historia

men enligt många ändå en välspenderad sådan.
