An Investigation of Different Reflectarray Antenna Elements

Abstract [en]

In this master thesis different element shapes used in printed reflectarrays have been examined and compared to each other. One of the element shapes is then chosen anda semi infinite reflectarray printed with microstrip patches having this chosen shape is investigated and compared to a parabolic reflector. The antennas have been placed both symmetrically and asymmetrically with respect to the illuminating source. It is found that this reflectarray is more sensitive to edge effects than the parabolic reflector and that the greater number of elements is used in the array the less sensitive will the reflectarray be to edge effects.
