Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) has over the past years become an important role in many businesses. It is of interest to study how different corporations take CSR in consideration due to the fact that CSR is defined as the way corporations take their active responsibility towards their stakeholders, which could be either environmental or social. The purpose of this paper has been to research and analyze what kind of impact Sony Mobile Communications CSR initiative GreenHeartTM has had on the three biggest impact areas of carbon footprint in a lifecycle for a cell phone. The study has been made by reviewing Sony Ericsson 2011 Sustainability report, their GreenHeartTM blog and an interview with Senior Manager Corporate Sustainability Office, Pontus Alexandersson The analysis showed that the GreenHeartTM initiative has actively reduced the carbon footprint in a lifecycle, most noticeably in the utilization and transportation stage. However, it was never apparent if GreenHeartTM reduced the carbon footprint in the component manufacturing stage.
