Abstract [en]

For normal arteries, it owns three distinct tissue layers called intima media and adventitia. The intima consists of monolayer endothelial cells. The media layer composed of smooth muscle cells and elastin fibers, these cells aligned circumferentially around the intima. The adventitial layer contains fibroblasts and connective tissue [18]



the thinnest layer of artery which is composed of a single layer of simple squamous endothelial cells. Polysaccharide intercellular matrix joins these cells together.


the thickest layer of artery composed of circularly arranged elastic fiber, connective tissue and polysaccharide substances. Media is especially rich in vascular smooth muscle compare to other tissue in artery. Another thick elastic band named the external elastic lamina separate the second and third layer of media.



the outer layer of artery. Adventitia is entirely made up of connective tissue with nerves in it. The Tunica Adventitia is entirely made up of connective tissue.
